Jo was recently in Santa Barbara and visited one of their retail locations to try on some of their clothing, notably their best-selling The Havana Dress. She also learned about their pre-layered ‘Looker’ line of sweaters, which are sweaters (crewneck, v-neck, vests, etc) over a shirting underlayer sewn in at the edges (collar, cuffs, and shirt hem), so it appears as though you’re wearing two pieces, but you only have to put on one. These pieces look streamined and less bulky because you aren’t wearing a complete blouse underneath, are easy to throw on and be done! They are perfect for travel and come in a lot of different neck styles and colors.
We know Brochu Walker is a bit pricey (pieces in the $300-$600 range), but we really like the line for its minimalist aesthetic, quality over quantity, and ‘conscious luxury’ ethos, and feel that their versatile, easy pieces are perfect for everyday wear.
The Havana Dress: Yes, this is a great dress! Jo was worried that the tiered aspect of this shirtdress and the short sleeves would make it a no, but after trying it on (in the longer length), she thinks it’s a YES! Because it’s a lot of fabric, it’s important to buy it so it’s not oversized or too big. Jo loves it in the Java, a popular color this fall. This is a great dress to have on hand to wear to a whole variety of occasions.
The Everyday Cashmere Shirt: Wow! We’ve never seen a cashmere shirt, and this checks all the boxes. Button front placket, nice collar, button cuffs, and grosgrain trim. This isn’t available yet, but please add your name to the mailing list to be notified when it becomes available.
