Veronica Beard (VB) has been on our Retailers We Love page since we started FabList. This cult-favorite brand is much beloved by our FabListers, nailing the mix of polished and casual – think blazers with a twist (their signature dickey jacket), effortless blouses and dresses, and jeans that fit and flatter. We love that their pieces can go from day to night, work to weekend, and casual to dressy. VB isn’t cheap chic, but the quality of the material, the longevity of the pieces, and their multitasking ability provide a lot of bang for the buck.
The story of Veronica Beard must be told! Veronica Beard isn’t a single person. There are two Veronica Beards, and they are sisters-in-law married to brothers. Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard joined forces in 2010 to solve the eternal fashion dilemma – how to look put together without trying too hard. They have eight (yes, eight!) kids between them, and they understood the need for outfits that could go from school drop-offs to board meetings to cocktails without a complete outfit change.
Their first piece – the now iconic Dickey jacket – launched a movement in modern multitasking fashion. It looks like a blazer layered over a shirt or sweater, but with zip-in pieces (called dickeys) you can swap out depending on your mood and the season. Buy one blazer and a few dickeys, and you have many looks from which to choose. VB is also known for its flattering ruching – their dresses are favorites amongst our age group because of this feature which nips us in all the right places.
Since the launch of their Dickey jacket, the brand has evolved into a full lifestyle label, worn by women of all ages seeking stylish yet simple pieces. Jo recently visited the new VB store in Seattle and tried on most everything to bring you a FabList of popular items, starting with the classic blazer/dickey combo.
Miller Dickey Jacket: VB was born with the launch of their Dickey jacket. This is a best-seller season after season, and this version with its decorative buttons is a timeless classic. It comes in blue, black, or white with silver or gold buttons. A slight stretch allows for a comfortable and flexible fit, and the slim tailoring isn’t constricting. Pair with a dickey to complete the look (it is shown above with their cashmere hoodie dickie. The jacket also comes in linen.
Dickey: What is a dickey? This isn’t your grandma’s vintage neckline insert – it’s a zip-in layer that looks like a hoodie, denim jacket, sweater, or button-down shirt underneath the blazer, without the bulk. It zips seamlessly into the brand’s signature blazer so you can instantly change the vibe of the outfit. Think of it as a layering hack. You can wear the jacket open with another tee underneath, or zipped up without anything underneath (as it looks like you have a shirt on via the dickey).
Obie Pinstripe Dickey Jacket: If you’re looking for a simple linen blazer, the Obie is a single-breasted jacket, crafted from premium Italian stretch linen in navy and finished with white pinstripes. The shape is perfect, nipped at the waist for a flattering look, and features cutaway hems for an even more flattering silhouette. This can pair with a dickey (can take the linen look into fall with a cashmere dickey), looks great with the Kasey jean below, or a matching pinstripe pant, the Rimini, for a two-piece suit.
Kasey Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Jean: Wow! Jo tried these on and couldn’t figure out why they were so soft and comfy. It’s because they are made with a Dream Denim fabric, a premium cotton-silk blend that’s soft to the touch and Veronica Beard’s most comfortable denim yet. They have a mid-rise waist, full-length leg, cool blue wash, and a frayed hem for an edgy yet polished feel.
Taylor Cropped Wide Leg Jean: Another pair we loved because of the high-rise fit and wide-leg style in non-stretch denim. Made in LA from premium Japanese denim, this jean also features a raw hem. Pair with everything from blouses (see below) to plain white tees for a chic and effortless look. Available in 7 colors.
Haydon Denim Midi Shirtdress: You know we love a shirtdress, and this one caught our eye because it’s a little longer and has VB’s signature ruching at the waist to slim the look where we need it. We also love the roomy half sleeves for coverage. It was shown in store with the Carlotta Belt, which is a great look!
Pryce Mini Dress: This navy collared a-line dress is a hit! It has everything we like in a dress – stretch crepe material, relaxed fit, long sleeves, subtle A-line silhouette, and front pleating. A collared hidden button placket, oversized front patch pockets, and contrast stitching complete the look. Again, a great multi-tasking piece that can be paired with sandals for summer ease and layered over tights and boots once temperatures begin to drop.

Linds Silk Blouse: VB is an expert in blousing, mixing femininity with casual ease. The Linds blouse has a relaxed fit, gentle blouson sleeves, a self-tie neckline, and romantic blue and green pastel florals. Dress it up with trousers or down with jeans (see above).
Devra Striped Button Down Shirt: We’ve mentioned VB’s signature ruching, and this blouse has it. Crafted from lightweight stretch cotton in green and white stripes, the Devra shirt features a deep V-neckline and ruched detailing at the waist for a flattering, feminine silhouette.
