Last week, in our Thursday This & That email, we mentioned a few items we’ve been using in our swim workouts. Apparently, we have swimmers in our midst, evidenced by the number of items you purchased from the list! We’ve decided to expand our list to include some clothing, swimsuits, and other items we use during our pool workouts. Here is our swimming FabList.
Swim Cap: Tired of wrestling with those sticky swim caps? This Speedo cap is easy to put on and very comfortable.
Swim Suit: For lap swimming, you can’t beat a tried and true Speedo. If you’re looking for more sun protection, this one has a UPF rating of 50+. Sizing of swimsuits is tricky, so take your time and follow the measurement guidelines.
Swim Jacket: This is super easy to throw on over your suit to wear to and from the pool. The inside is lined in fleece – so cozy.
Flip Flops: Archies are the best! A classic flip-flop with 1 inch of arch support provides your feet with the support they need. Great for walks on the pool deck.
Water Bottle: A sports squeeze bottle, poolside, is a necessity for staying hydrated between sets.
Kick Board: Targets lower body strength and kick technique. Rounded edges for a comfortable grip and a sleek design to streamline you through the water.
Pull Buoy: Builds upper body strength by isolating the arms and floating the hips/legs.
Swim Paddles: Add resistance to arm strokes to build strength and improve technique.
Swim Fins: Fins do not make swimming easier! They help to build leg strength, increase speed, enhance propulsion, and improve body positioning. There are different lengths (shorter = easier, longer = harder), so make sure you order the right one!
Goggles: These swim goggles/mask don’t leave really deep suction marks on your eyes!
Ear Plugs: Keep your ear canals nice and dry with the delicate TYR Silicone Molded Ear Plugs.
Open Water Swim Buoy: For open-water swimming, use this swim buoy to increase your visibility to lifeguards, boaters, surfers, jet skis, kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft. It’s easy to blow up and clip around your waist, and the swim bubble gently tows behind you without pulling you back or adding extra drag to your swim.
Waterproof Headphones: If you want to listen to music, books, podcasts, etc., the Skokz headphones are the go-to for swimmers.
Big Carry-All: You’ll need a big bag to carry all your gear around! Mesh venting is essential for wet items.
Microfiber Drying Towel: Super lightweight and absorbent, this microfiber towel is made from quick-drying material.
Aloha Waterproof Bags: We love Aloha bags for everything – cosmetics, goggles & cap, swimsuits – they are lightweight and splashproof. You can’t have too many!
