The “It” Gifts of 2025

Chrissie’s mahjong group had their second annual “It” gift holiday party this week, where everyone brought items they especially loved this year. The idea isn’t to give or exchange the items, rather to share them and say why they really like them, to provide everyone else with good holiday gift ideas. We shamelessly copied the concept from the event that our mahjong member, FabLister Carolyn B., has attended for years with a larger group of friends.

Here are what people loved this year, many of which are already on FabList, along with some new additions.

Beauty/Bath:

Spongelle: A shower buffing sponge that is infused with a wonderful-smelling body wash.
Rhode Facial Cleanser: A great facial cleanser that leaves you feeling clean and moisturized.
Slip Hair Ties: The best hair ties to tie hair back without damaging it, and look good on your wrist when it’s not in use.
Kitch Quick Dry Towel Hair Scrunchie: Put it on post-shower and the terrycloth will soak up wetness like a towel while keeping hair off your face.
Hanni Splash Salve: A FabList favorite, this in-shower moisturizer (put it on in the shower and lightly run water over you before getting out) is a great new way to moisturize.
Undo Claw Clips: These small but mighty clips really hold hair in place without giving you a headache or pulling too tight.
Ryvalia Collagen Face Mask:  Pop one of these on your face for a few hours, or overnight, and see the difference immediately! We also like the Biodance option, which is best if left on overnight.
Kitch Thermal Rollers: Put these rollers in dry hair, blast with hot air via a blow dryer, let cool, and get beautiful curls.
Bondi Boost Thermal Hair Brush: Use it on dry hair to get an added boost.
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream: The best option for someone with real eczema issues (just the cream, not other versions!)

Home:

Secura Electric Wine Bottle Opener: Touch one button, and it does all the wine opening for you. Easy!
Tales Conversation Cards: A box of fun questions that let you build deeper conversations.
Mahjong ‘Tile Shufflers’: Use these fun ‘paddles’ to flip the mahjong tiles when shuffling them!
Burlap & Barrel Cumin: We are fans of Burlap & Barrel spices and learned that their Cumin is a great daily addition to eggs and more for added flavor.
Quince Bath Towels: Someone who’s very particular about her towels tested many and determined these super plush ones to be the best!
Beautiful Desk Calendar:  This desk calendar from Lobird Stationery comes with a small brass easel that lets you display each month with its featured watercolor image.
Rechargeable Lighter: No more running out of matches or lighter fluid!

Clothing:

Lake Lounge Set: These are made of a heavy, really nice soft cotton that hangs nicely and feels great. Chrissie’s worn the versatile pants on the plane, around town with tennies, and to sleep in.
Herno Emilia Jacket: If you are looking for an item to add to your wish list, this is pricey, but on a cost-per-wear basis, it’s a winner.

Electronics:

Soundcore Ear Buds: High-quality, noise-cancelling earbuds that are only $25!
Shokz Open Run Headphones: They don’t actually sit inside your ears (sound conducts through your bones), so you can wear them while running, biking, hiking, etc., and still hear traffic, people, etc., as needed for safety.

Other:

Trader Joe’s Coconut Oil: OK, my group was wondering if I would include this in the write-up! The head of Stanford’s Center for Menopause and Healthy Aging recommends this as the best, cheapest form of lube for aging women, and one of our mahjong members now recommends it as well (take a bit and warm it up in your hands before use)! If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you, it’s also available at Walmart online.
