You know the feeling when you get home from a long day and can’t wait to change into your comfiest clothes and relax? Hair goes up in a ponytail and clothing and shoes are thrown off and replaced with loose, soft, and cozy clothes. Ahhhh.
We all have our ‘go-to’ choices for that cozy feeling, whether it’s an old sweatshirt or a favorite pair of sweatpants. But it’s always soft, never binding, and doesn’t involve a zipper. Recently we’ve both added some new favorites to this category of ‘cozy comfort curl-up’ clothes and thought we’d share our finds in case you’re ready to join us in comfort. Whether you’re a pajama person, a sweatshirt aficionado, or a cashmere gal we’ve got some comfy clothes ideas for you.
Shirts:
- The only tees, of Chrissie’s many t-shirts, that are soft enough to really lounge/sleep in are those from Sundry. They. Are. So. Soft. And get better after each wash.
- A good, soft flannel shirt is also a perfect comfort clothes item. Frank & Eileen has terrific (although not cheap) super soft flannel shirts and the Eileen is their more relaxed cut that comes in over 20 colors.
Sweatshirts/Sweaters:
- Things don’t have to be high-priced to be comfortable! For a crewneck option Chrissie loves her Quince SuperSoft Fleece Crew sweatshirt. It’s the perfect weight (on the lighter side) and length (not too long/bulky) and can be paired with sweats, pj bottoms or jeans, or even worn under a blazer for non-cozy times! Comes in 7 colors and is $35.
- For a hoodie option, Vuori’s Halo Oversized Hoody has a ‘kangaroo pocket’, is not too thick, and hits below the hips. It’s great for lounging, but also looks great with jeans or workout gear. Their Halo
- Jo loves sweatshirts from The Great. They are a little pricey, but you won’t be sorry. They just work. The College French Terry comes in lots of fun colors.
- And if you are more of a cashmere sweater instead of a sweatshirt type of lounge person, you know we love our Quince cashmere that comes in so many great styles like this cashmere zip up hoody (has matching cashmere sweatpants too) and this awesome cashmere fisherman’s sweater!
Bottoms:
- Vuori Performance Jogger Sweats are a go-to for both of us. They are soft, fit well, and (bonus!) look nice enough to leave the house! 11 color options, and they also come in ‘long’. Vuori has also introduced a Halo Wideleg version of their pants that look pretty terrific!
- Quince Flowknit Wideleg Pants are a go-to for Chrissie–they can be worn out of the house and are so very very comfy–and the price is right at $40!
- As mentioned above, if cashmere is your cozy, try these cashmere sweats for ‘luxury lounging’ (also great for plane travel).
- Flannel pajama bottoms are a go-to for many of us! These from J.Crew are super cozy!
PJs/Robes:
- Flannel pajama bottoms are very cozy, especially when worn with one of the sweatshirts above! You can get great ones at Costco, or if you don’t have a membership then here are some other great options. Jo has been wearing these from J.Crew for the last few years and they get softer and softer as time goes on!
- Chrissie also loves Nordstrom Moonlight PJs that come in shorts, pants, short-sleeved, long-sleeved etc. Something for everyone! They are made from lightweight, soft, and cozy cotton.
- Skims Soft Lounge Sleep Set features the brand’s signature, stretchy modal rib that brings relaxed comfort to your nighttime routine. Available in 5 colors.
- And PrintFresh Cotton PJs always look and feel great, especially if you want to look ‘put-together’ cozy vs ‘sloppy cozy’.
- If you like robes, the Soft Lounge Longline Robe from Skims is so buttery soft you won’t want to take it off!
Slippers:
- Chrissie wears her ‘fuzzy birks’ as slippers and all-around ‘comfort’ footwear, and loves them.
- Ugg slippers are also feel-good shoes!
- The Cozy Earth Puffy Sheep Slippers are crafted with ultra-soft sheep fur and lined with plush shearling to envelop your feet in luxurious warmth!
Coordinated Looks:
For an elevated casual look, it’s nice to have a coord – top and bottom pieces that match – so if you have to run out, someone stops in, or if you just want to feel a little more pulled together. Some good options for this are:
- Jenni Kayne: Her lounge wear is the perfect cozy and casual California look. The Marina Sweatshirt pairs perfectly with the Marina Sweatpant.
- This Reformation x Casey Musgraves Cashmere & Wool Sweater & Pant combo is so fab!
- Of course our favorite Quince has a couple of options. For a sweatshirt coord they have the Super Soft Fleece Hoodie and Super Soft Fleece Wide Leg Pants. For a cashmere option, try the Mongolian Cashmere Hoodie with the Cashmere Pants.
- And these cashmere pj’s’s would be a great gift from Santa this year!!
- Eleventy, one of our new favorite brands, has these super sharp pinstripe cashmere joggers that can be paired with this coordinating cashmere sweater.
- Frank & Eileen’s Sydney Travel Set is ‘coordinated comfort’.
Not exactly ‘cozy comfort clothing’ but definitely ‘cozy comfort’, this foot massager lives under Chrissie’s desk by day…and can make its way to the couch/tv room by night when total relaxation is needed. It’s the perfect addition to any ‘comfort cozy outfit’!
