Everyday Winter Shoes That Aren’t Sneakers or Boots

Both of us exclaimed after the Holiday that we need to ‘up’ our shoe game! Specifically, shoes to wear during the winter that aren’t tennis shoes or boots. We both live on the West Coast so we don’t have to worry about snow on a regular basis. We are talking about everyday shoes to wear around town that would work with or without socks (we do like to keep our tootsies warm) that aren’t tennis shoes or boots, and look more dressed up than sneakers. This is NOT easy. But we’ve done the research, tried on the shoes, and are ready to share the results/suggestions:

Loafers:

Freda Salvatore makes a very fashionable loafer that is highly acclaimed. Love the heel shape.

Sebago Loafers: These were THE hot ticket in Italy and France this past fall. They were everywhere!

The Andie Loafer: From Margaux NY, a very simple classic choice. If you are new to Margaux, it was started by 2 women, friends at Harvard, who were determined to make a stylish AND comfortable shoe.

Jamie Haller Loafers: This loafer, more than any we’ve researched, has GREAT reviews! We particularly like the Black Patent Loafers. They are currently very low in stock on all their shoes though, so keep checking back!

Gucci Loafers: The ultimate classic loafer with their iconic horse bit. They will last a lifetime and are very comfortable!

JP Tod Loafer: The classic drivers moccasin works well as does their new lug sole loafer if you want some height!

Cole Haan Platform Loafer: Chrissie has a version of these from last year and loves them – super comfortable and it gives just a tiny bit of extra height without being clunky.

Boat Shoes/Moccasins:

Bibi Lou Boat Shoes: This is a great dupe of the (reissued but currently sold out) Mui Mui version of this shoe.

Suede Mocs: Now trending! There has been a return to the Minnetonka style suede fringed loafer.

Lace-Ups:

Clarke Wallabees: Yes, they have returned! Super comfortable and available in many colors and styles.

Sebago Suede Ranger Shoes: Sebago is making a comeback and these suede, lug sole, tie-ups caught our eye! Chrissie has her eye on a pair of these.

Ballet Flats/Mary Janes:

We love this woven one from Freda Salvatore!

Margaux NY makes a great classic ballet flat in a million different colors, including a cap toe option similar to Chanel.

These Alaia flats are a great travel shoe! They weigh next to nothing and add some sparkle to simple outfits!

A leopard ballet flat is a fun addition to jeans, black pants, etc. Leopard is a neutral!

Valentino stud ballet flats: These have really grown on us, and are now considered a timeless classic.

Clogs/Mules:

Birkenstock Boston Soft Clog: A staple for a few years now, these are a comfy, closed toe, year-round option. We love the Birkenstock Gzieh for summer and the Boston now fills our winter Birkenstock shoe void!

Gucci Mule: A classic that works with pants, skirts, and dresses.
