With spring around the corner, one of my (Jo) favorite things to do is buy a new pair of sneakers. It’s nostalgic for me – it takes me back to growing up in Michigan, when at the end of a long winter, with the snow melted and the grass visible once again, I welcomed spring with new white tennis shoes (Keds, Jack Purcells, Tretorns). I purchased my ‘spring pair’ last week when I spied a ‘new-to-me’ brand of tennis shoes on FabLister Jen V. and I copied her immediately. They are from Nothing New . . . and they are currently on my feet!!
Here is our FabList of sneakers that are not sports-related, but are to wear everyday, out and about. We have mostly casual styles, with a few fancy ones as well – it’s a good idea to have several pairs in your arsenal. And if you missed our fun interview of Sarah Sands, who has worn nothing but sneakers since January 8, 2016, you can find that here.
CASUAL
This pair in pink is what Chrissie has her eye on for spring! A bit of a ‘lift’ and great color choices.
These are all the rage! From the soccer field to the streets, this always-original sneaker maintains its legacy with premium materials and iconic 3-Stripes at the sides.
Jo saw these on a woman in Venice (Italy) and scoured the city until she found them. Turns out they are available on Amazon and are designed for handball! The blue color is great with jeans.
A Kate Middleton favorite, this platform sneaker features a textured toe bumper and a durable rubber sole. Available in lots of fun colors and non-platform too.
New Balance has been rocking it! This sneaker pairs breezy mesh and plush suede atop a chunky rubber sole to ground the game-point look.
Really retro! Heritage details meet modern attitude in a ’70s-throwback running shoe reissued as a mold-breaking street sneaker.
Both Chrissie and FabLister Katie F. love these! Take your sneaker game to new heights in this comfy platform.
Seen all around town, these Brazilian streamlined sneakers offer a clean, sporty look and can be worn with pants or dresses.
Chrissie loves these for travel because they are SO LIGHT…like crazy light! Plus so comfy, and have the fun little splash of silver on the back and tongue. This version has a fun gold tongue.
One of Jo’s favorites! The most comfy shoe around, plus they are easy to slip on and off. So cute in lace up too and has such great colors.
FANCY
