Let’s talk about trends for Holiday Decorating! I love to add a little something new to my decor this time of year and here’s my wish list. Let’s talk about mini lamps, new uses for stockings and wreaths, and decorating with bells. Also, if you were wondering if the brass trend is fading … it’s not!
My Hot Tips section includes humorous pillows to throw into the mix. Sometimes you need a laugh in the midst of year-end festivities!
Mini Lamps
I am in LOVE with rechargeable lamps! Tuck these minis into your tablescape or on a bar. Buy up lots of different shades. These aren’t just for patios anymore. Bravo!
Mrs. Alice does an amazing job showing us how to use these in a table scheme. Red and green and brass…yes, please!
I love this little guy from Pooky tucked into a bar.
For a year-round classic, this brass beauty can be found at Ballard.
Need something more modern? This little guy is only 8” tall and perfect.
Wreaths:
Wreaths are a traditional way to embellish a front door. They are a sign of welcome and date back to Ancient Rome when greenery was placed in a circle to signify eternal life. I love them on a door, but this versatile shape can be used all over the home.
I like to think of my mirrors during the holiday season. What a simple way to dress up a rather blank canvas. You can go with traditional green.
Or wouldn’t this gold beauty from Terrain be a fantastic touch?
For a classic wreath I love one made of bay leaf. The beautiful scent will greet you every day. And where better than a kitchen? Pop it right on your hood with a Command Hook.
Here’s a nature-inspired wreath with an interesting shape. Maybe perfect for a mid-Century Modern Home?
Don’t forget your bedroom. A simple wreath above the bed makes for a snuggly evening.
One of my favorite ways to use wreaths is on the back of the chair. You can tie it to the back of a wood chair. Or you can use a T-pin to attach the ribbon to an upholstered chair.
I also like these mini boxwood wreaths.
We also love to see wreaths on our dining tables. How about a fabulous feather wreath from Mrs Alice?
These pine wreaths are the perfect place for name cards!
Or why not use gingerbread houses? Pottery Barn has these adorable gingerbread houses in different styles and sizes.
Stockings and Bells:
Let’s move on to stockings and bells. We all have our family stockings. But maybe it’s time to add the stocking to other areas like walls and staircases.
Here are my favorites this year. Rustic, casual stocking from McGee and Co.
And this gorgeous velvet baby.
This embroidered woodland scene from Magnolia Home.
A little ‘Granny Chic’ stocking from Garnet Hill. (You know ‘Granny Chic’ is a thing this year… but that’s a topic for another day!)
Bells are everywhere this year! Tucked into garlands or wreaths, these will stand the test of time!
Strands of bells work well in garlands or just hung on a hook.
Here’s a gorgeous brass bell for a wreath.
They can even be stacked on tables or tucked into bookcases.
Hot Tip: We know there are holiday pillows you can buy to brighten up your sofa or that entry bench. But did you know there are also funny ones available? I love an unexpected moment. Which one of these would put a smile on a friend’s face?
The designers at Furbish Studio always have me giggling. I love that something so formal as needlepoint can be so naughty! You know you just started singing this one…
I don’t think you can go wrong with a dog dressed as a reindeer.
Or a Yeti amongst the sofa pillows.
A nod to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. (What’s your favorite Christmas movie?)
Might be the Grinch!
And in case you need a reminder to be jolly in all of the craziness!
