Mother’s Day is May 11th, less than a month away, so it’s time to start planning! Don’t forget this day isn’t about just your mother (if you’re lucky enough to still have her in your life!). It’s also time to celebrate grandmothers, aunts, sisters, mothers-in-law, daughters-in-law, etc.
The more ‘mature’ the mom, the more likely she doesn’t want any more stuff (we just heard that one mom asked for a dumpster for a Mother’s Day gift!), so gifting can be tricky. And then there are those who say they don’t want anything – but they really do – and it better be good or you’ll be sorry! Hopefully, we have something for everyone on your list.
Note: A few of the items are personalized, so be sure to order quickly to receive them in time for May 11th.
Health & Wellness:
Ozlo Sleepbuds: Snore blocking! Founded by three Bose engineers, these are Bluetooth earbuds that feature noise-masking technology and biometric sensing. You can stream a podcast or music before bed, and they’ll detect when you’ve fallen asleep—and seamlessly transition to your chosen masking sound to block out the world (or a partner’s snoring) for the rest of the night.
Oura Ring: Optimize sleep, activity, and recovery with the Oura ring. Friends who have them swear by them!
For flower lovers:
Urban Stems Flowers: Who wouldn’t love some beautiful peonies?!
For the Mahjong Player:
A beautiful new Mahjong playing mat would be a wonderful gift.
For the Foodie who doesn’t want to cook:
Goldbelly has great options from popular restaurants around the USA. The Muffuletta from Central Grocery in New Orleans, Gourmet Mac & Cheese from Maine, and Ina’s Coconut Cake are good choices.
Spoonful of Comfort has pies, soups, cookies, breads, and other Mother’s Day gift packs such as an entire beautiful brunch!
Harry & David for gift baskets of fruit, Moose Munch, cheese and crackers, wine, and lots more!
Chocolate: Fran’s Sea Salt Caramels are sososo good! Or really good chocolate chip cookies like these!
Private chef for life!! Or, at the very least, if you gift a homemade dinner once a week for a month (including planning, shopping, cooking, and cleanup), it would be so loved!

Theraplush Hand Moisturizer: We haven’t yet tried this ourselves, yet multiple sources we trust RAVE about this overnight hand cream. And it comes in a beautiful vessel to keep bedside as well!
Gua Sha Set: If you or the mom in your life hasn’t tried Gua Sha yet, you’re in for a treat. This set, which promotes the ancient Chinese medicine method of invigorating energy and activating circulation, is a wonderful gift.
Gift Card for spa treatments/pedicures, facials, and massages. Self-care items that we love but don’t always treat ourselves to are always perfect! (Note to spouses reading this: Call one of our best friends for advice on where we’d like to go if you aren’t sure.)
For the Fashionista:
Pearl Crossbody Phone Case: This is on many wish lists!
Personalized Sweatshirt: Whether you choose grey or a fun color, we love these personalized sweatshirts!
Cashmere Wraps: The Quince wrap is soft, cozy, 100% Mongolian cashmere, and great for keeping warm around the house or out and about. This cashmere wrap from Tuckernuck can be personalized and comes in 6 color options.
Cashmere Sweater: We know winter is over, but we’d still love Jenni Kayne’s Fisherman Sweater!
Jewelry…always! Lab-created stones are of amazing quality and price. Dorsey has terrific options, including their earrings. ‘A David Yurman bracelet’ is a gift that can be worn forever. And if you want something more modern, consider this $120 beautiful ‘pebble’ necklace, which comes in five color options, or anything from Heaven Mayham.
Nice handbag: But please make sure it’s returnable….just in case! Options for budget, mid-range, and ‘shoot for the moon’!
Cariuma shoes are all so comfortable! You can’t go wrong with their solid tennis shoes (Jo loves their canvas slip-ons, but they are currently out of stock), or for something fun and different, why not a pair with flowers – especially if the mom in your life is a gardener?!
For the Mom who wants to go out!
- Concert Ticket: Surprise her with tickets to a local event coming up this year!
- Dinner out: A planned night out, with a reservation and a plan, is a welcome surprise!
For the Tricky Customer:
Digital Photo Frame: Load up this photo frame with photos of your kids/grandkids and gift it to your mother-in-law or mother as a great way to keep them current. Multiple family members can upload new photos to keep parents updated on what family members are up to!
Handwritten Note: A handwritten note on beautiful personalized stationery is a wonderful idea. Gift the mom her own box of personalized stationery with the note, of course!
Personalized tags like those from Lobird, made by Fablister Laurie Rohrbach (read her story of becoming an artist/entrepreneur at 40 here!), are always a thoughtful and appreciated gift!
For a mom who reads:
Stack of Books: Gift her The Thursday Mystery Series (retirement home residents solve murders), the delightful Molly the Maid books, or any selection of books you’ve enjoyed that you think the mom will like!
Kindle: An updated device for early adopters or new users!
For the mom who travels:
Quince Suitcase: An ultralight carry-on in fun colors that also expands for trips home with new purchases.
A great beach trip travel tote that lets you carry your hat without crushing it.
Aloha Bags: These waterproof pouches, totes, and backpacks come in a variety of patterns and sizes. They’re lightweight and waterproof, making them great for toiletries, beach items, damp bathing suits, or just about anything!
Silk Eyemask: We LOVE this $20 silk sleep mask from Quince. It’s padded and thick and so comfy, plus it comes in lots of color options. We both use ours when traveling – great for planes!
Trtl Neck Pillow: Chrissie’s go-to travel item!
For the mom who cocktails:
VoChill Stemless Wine Glass Chiller: Mom can sip on her vino at the perfect temp with this nifty device that keeps any glass of wine chilled for over an hour! It fits a wide range of standard stemless glass shapes and sizes, but won’t fit glasses with flat bottoms, such as old-fashioned or low-ball glasses.
For the Mom who is a homebody:
Special Flannel PJ’s, Eberjay cotton PJs, or a PrintFresh set with a fun print would be loved by any mom. Chrissie also loves this comfy lounge set – it can be worn as PJs, as separate pants and a t-shirt, or together as a lounge set. These silk pj tops (with sleeves or a tank option) and bottoms (we love the side slit) drape really well and feel luxurious on – they are nice enough to wear out of the house!
UGG slippers. New slippers are just the best…ahhhh.
Barefoot Dreams’ material is so soft and cozy and this robe won’t disappoint!
Electric Kettle: This beautiful electric kettle lets you make a cup of tea in minutes — and looks stylish on the countertop! You could pair it with some of her favorite teas or a new set of mugs.
Le Creuset Pot – We know this isn’t ‘exciting’ in the traditional gifting way, but this isn’t something someone typically buys for themselves, a must-have in the kitchen, and will last a lifetime!
