Mother’s Day is May 12th, less than a month away so it’s time to start planning now! Don’t forget this day isn’t about just your mother (if you’re lucky enough to still have her in your life!). It’s also time to celebrate grandmothers, aunts, sisters, mothers-in-law, etc . .
The more ‘mature’ the mom, the more likely she doesn’t want any more stuff (no more clutter!) so gifting can be tricky. And then there are those that say they don’t want anything – but they really do – and it better be good or you’ll be sorry! Hopefully, we have something for everyone on your list.
A few of the items are personalized…so be sure to order quickly to get it in time for the holiday.
For the Foodie who doesn’t want to cook:
- Goldbelly has great options from popular restaurants around the USA. The Muffuletta from Central Grocery in New Orleans, Gourmet Mac & Cheese from Maine, and Ina’s Coconut Cake are good choices.
- Spoonful of Comfort has pies, soups, cookies, breads, and other Mother’s Day gift packs such as an entire beautiful brunch!
- Harry & David for gift baskets of fruit, Moose Munch, cheese and crackers, wine, and lots more!
- Chocolate: Fran’s Sea Salt Caramels are sososo good! A big box of Sees Nuts & Chews works! Or really good chocolate chip cookies like these!
- Private chef for life!! Or at a minimum, if you gift a homemade dinner once a week for a month (including planning, shopping, cooking, and clean-up) it would be so LOVED!!
For the Diva:
- Indulgent Beauty Bundle: Lotions and Potions are always welcome. A houseguest recently gave Chrissie a bundle of her favorite items and it was an AWESOME gift! We’d include Osea Body Oil, Osea Body Butter, Osea Cleanser and a bathtub caddy to keep it all on (with a good book and a glass of wine) while bathing!
- Gift Card for spa treatments/pedicures, facials, and massages. Self-care items that we love but don’t always spend money on for ourselves are always perfect! (Note to spouses reading this: Call one of our best friends for advice on where we’d like to go if you aren’t sure).
- Personalized Sweatshirt: Whether you choose grey, or a fun color, we love these personalized sweatshirts!
- Cashmere Wraps: The Quince wrap is soft, cozy, 100% Mongolian cashmere, and great for keeping warm around the house or out and about. We’ve been fans of the MerSea wraps for ages – The Charleston Travel Wrap is a classic, and The Chelsea Kimono would be a great gift – it’s the perfect piece to wear almost everywhere and with anything – over joggers, jeans or jammies.
- Cashmere Sweater: Jenni Kayne (her Fisherman Sweater is always a great choice), One Gray Day (their Lyle crewneck is a terrific cashmere sweater with a split side hem and slightly longer back and their Blakley is a great thinner weave option) are great luxe choices.
- Jewelry…always! Some suggestions for classic items we can wear every day include: ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘big’. And please make sure it’s returnable/exchangeable just in case.
- Nice handbag: But please make sure it’s returnable….just in case! Options for budget, mid-range, and ‘shoot for the moon’!
For the Mom who wants to go out!
- Concert Ticket: Surprise her with tickets to a local event coming up this year!
- Dinner Out: A planned night out – with a reservation and a plan – is a welcome surprise!
- Movie Pass: There are some great movie theater passes out there that will make any mom’s day! These passes also provide discounted or free tickets and savings on concessions. (AMC Stubs, Regal Unlimited™, Cinemark
For the Tricky Customer:

You can set this up in minutes on WiFi and instantly add photos and videos from your phone using the free Aura app. There is free unlimited storage and no monthly fee.
- Minted Heart Snapshot Mix Photo Art: Upload 30 images (grandkids, ancestors, vacations) and Minted will arrange them in a heart-shaped collage for mothers to treasure for ever and ever!
- Handwritten Note: A handwritten note on beautiful stationery is a wonderful idea.
- Stationery: Personalized stationery or tags like those from Lobird, made by Fablister Laurie Rohrbach (read her story of becoming an artist/entrepreneur at 40 here!), are always a thoughtful and appreciated gift!
For a mom who reads:
- Stack of Books: The Thursday Mystery Series (retirement home residents solve murders) or just a selection of books you think the mom will like.
- Kindle: An updated device for the early adopter or one for a new user!
- Hooga Book Light: Great for sleepless nights or for travel!
For the mom who travels:
- Quince Suitcase: Ultralight carry-on in fun colors.
- Quince backpack: Super light and chic.
- Trtl Neck Pillow: Chrissie’s go-to travel item!
For the mom who cocktails:
- VoChill Stemless Wine Glass Chiller: KEEP THE CHILL WITHOUT GIVING UP YOUR GLASS – Mom can sip on her vino at the perfect temp with this nifty devise! It keeps any glass of wine chilled for over an hour! It fits a wide range of standard stemless glass shapes and sizes. It won’t fit glasses with flat bottoms such as old-fashioned or low-ball glasses.
Mom who is a homebody:
- Electric Kettle: This beautiful electric kettle lets you make a cup of tea in minutes…and looks so stylish on the countertop! You could pair it with some of her favorite teas or some new mugs.
- Cordless Table Lights: These can go anywhere! In a dark kitchen corner, outside, a bathroom – anywhere!!
- Dyson Cordless Stick Vacuum: Jo really wants this and wouldn’t be sad if it appeared for Mother’s Day!! No cords, great suction (especially for dog hair) and it converts to a handheld for cleaning cars, stairs and upholstery! Chrissie already has one and loves it!
- Le Creuset Pot – We know this isn’t ‘exciting’ in the traditional gifting way, but this isn’t something someone typically buys for themselves, a must have in the kitchen, and will last a lifetime!
- Special Flannel PJ’s, high quality cotton PJs, a great high-quality cotton set with a fun print, or other ‘non-red silky/sexy’ PJ’s! And Chrissie keeps dreaming of this comfy lounge set that gets rave reviews!
