We’ve had a request for a PJ FabList and we are happy to oblige! PJ selection is not a straight-forward project! There are so many options out there, such as:
- Fancy/sexy vs. casual
- Nightgowns/nightshirts vs. tops/bottom sets
- Long pants vs. shorts
- Long-sleeved vs. short-sleeved
- Warm cozy fleece vs. crisp cotton vs. softer cotton vs. silk
You get the picture! Also, you may be someone who has your ‘at home’ PJ’s (comfy tee shirts are always great!) as well as those you wear on a group vacation in front of non-family members. Basically, you need more than one pair to cover all these different scenarios. We tend to go more casual (cotton, comfy) and our goal is generally cozy, stylish comfort. With that in mind, here are some brands and styles we recommend.
Their prints are so great and their cotton is amazing. Their pajamas come in shorts or pants, short and long sleeves, and in either a crisp thicker cotton or a silkier material, all in their joyful, colorful prints. Chrissie has these and loves them (although she wishes she’d gotten them in short-sleeve instead of long). These are the PJ’s you feel great having breakfast in at a getaway with friends ’cause they are comfy, fashionable and not clingy!
Lake:
Classic striped cotton sets, in both shorts or pants options (long or short sleeved), as well as knee length nightgowns, are amongst their best sellers. Comfy classics that make you want to curl up in bed on a Sunday morning with a coffee and a good book.
FabLister Jen V. takes her PJ’s seriously and this is her favorite brand. Whether you want solids or light, fresh prints in buttery pima cotton knit, silky voile cotton, or cool and crisp luxe pima cotton, they’ve got you covered. I can see these as perfect everyday lightweight cotton picks for home or away. Chrissie has her eye on this pair, which some in solids as well as patterns.
If you prefer less of a crisp cotton feel and more of a ‘silky’ feel, eberjey has terrific ‘TENCEL’ and washable silk options (as well as cotton). How stylish is this striped set of silk pjs (available in a bunch of patterns). And this great short-sleeved top/long pants combo comes in a variety of good solids – more than just the navy that many brands have.
Nordstrom:
Nordstrom carries a lot of great PJ brands…in fact they carry over 60 brands! So they’ve got you covered if you want a nightgown/nightshirt, a bridal set (ie sexier stuff), a set or separates. We love these cute pants (love the cuff) from PJ Salvage and this is Chrissie’s go to pair of PJ’s from Nordstrom’s house brand which are so soft and the perfect weight for a short-sleeved pants set, in classic navy with white trim.
Target:
The Auden brand carried at Target has something for everyone, at a great price point. We love this short-sleeved/cropped pants option (comes in various colors and a shorts combo), and this nightgown is great for travel as it packs up smaller than a two-piece option and is simple and not too long to get all wrapped around your legs while sleeping!
Quince:
If you want washable silk or linen options, Quince has beautiful washable silk separates (love the open side seam on the bottom of these pants worn together with this v-necked tank or this long sleeved option), as well as linen options and a great cotton pair at unbeatable price point.
Natori:
Jo received a Natori nightgown as a gift (thank you FabLister Glyn N.!) and LOVES it. It is so silky soft and it packs up super small for traveling. These satin ultra-soft PJs look like they need a new home!
Flannel PJ’s:
There’s nothing like a good pair of flannel PJ’s for the long dark days of winter! Some favorites include these scotch plaid ones from LL Bean, cute checked ones from Serena & Lily, and this plaid sleep shirt from Ralph Lauren.
